Sunday Brunch: Crème on the 14th Street Corridor

As Sophistocrats, Sunday may actually be one of our favorite days of the week. The opportunity to unwind from a long workweek, watch sports, and of course meet up with fellow Sophistocrats for brunch, makes Sundays worthwhile. This past Sunday we had the urge to swing over to Crème located on the 14th Street corridor in NW DC. The restaurant, which was once located on 13th and U, features a small, yet intimate, dining area and bar with a chic and industrial feel. For us late bloomers, and hard partyers, Crème offers brunch until 4pm, which is a great convenience, not found at other brunches. As a main course, we recommend “The Chesapeake” (pictured below) which is poached egg served over Maryland jumbo crabmeat hash, on top of an English muffin. As a side, we loved the breakfast potatoes and ordered bottomless mimosas (for $18) and trust us, they did a great job of keeping our glasses full. In addition, make sure you save your receipt from brunch and come back Tuesday-Thursday and get 25% off of your bill. Head over to Crème and be sure to let us know what you think. Cheers Sophistocrats!

Located at 608 H Street NW, the comfortable and relaxing restaurant features two dining rooms and a front main bar area. On our trip to Pho-DC we tried the Pho Beef Noodle Soup “PHO DC # 4 : (Pho Tai Chin)” with well-done brisket and rare beef and the Pho Beef Noodle Soup “PHO DC # 6 : (Pho Ga)” with Chicken Broth Noodle Soup with Shredded Chicken; both were delicious. We recommend that along with your meal, you try the Pomegranate Margarita. The next time the cold weather has you feeling down, head over to Pho-DC to lift up your spirit. Stay warm Sophistocrats.

And take it from us, over here at the Sophistocrats we consider ourselves experts when it comes to wings. That’s why when we came across Stan’s trademark Old Bay baked wings we were astonished. We already know what you’re thinking… “Not another person’s opinion on who has the best wings”. But we just couldn’t help ourselves. Yes, they’re that good! Take it from us, Stan’s has the best wings you can find in DC. In addition to their wings, Stan’s has become a patron favorite because they aren’t stingy when it comes to the liquor. When you order a drink, your waitress brings your liquor of choice in a full glass separate from your “chaser” of choice so you can truly pour your own poison. Along with your full-rack of baked wings, we recommend you get a side of onion rings. Head over to Stan’s and be sure to let us know what you think.
